This week, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) recognizes National Work Zone Awareness Week (April 11-15), reminding motorists to slow down and take extra caution when traveling through work zones. Additionally, Florida now uses a combination of red, green, and amber lights on construction equipment in high-speed work zones when workers are present.

Ramp Closures, Detours for I-4 Construction This Week

The Florida Department of Transportation will implement nightly interstate exit ramp closures along I-4 beginning Thursday, March 24, from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., weather permitting.

Closures will occur at the following locations in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties:

Two New I-4 Interchanges in Orlando Work in Harmony

The Florida Department of Transportation reports that the I-4 Ultimate Improvement Project enhancements at Michigan Street and Kaley Avenue allow the two interchanges to work together to provide better access to and from the interstate while mitigating congestion.

I-4 Express Officially Open to Central Florida Drivers

The managed lanes on Interstate 4 (I-4), known locally as I-4 Express, are now open.

On the morning of Saturday, February 26, Central Florida motorists gained access to the new lanes. The I-4 Express lanes, two in each direction of Interstate 4 (I-4), begin just west of Kirkman Road (State Road (S.R.) 435) and continue 21 miles to east of S.R. 434.

I-4 Projects Well Underway to Alleviate Bottlenecks in the ChampionsGate Area

The Florida Department of Transportation reports that work on the I-4 and C.R. 532 interchange near ChampionsGate well underway. Construction of a new, innovative diverging diamond interchange will improve traffic flow through the area. Bike lanes and sidewalks along C.R. 532 will also improve cyclist and pedestrian connectivity and safety at the interchange. The work is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2022.
