The Georgia Welcome Center on Interstate 75 in Ringgold will close for renovations starting Monday, November 30, 2015 for a maximum of 110 days. Motorists will have no access to the Welcome Center driveway, parking areas or building during this renovation and beautification time. Signs are up informing visitors of the scheduled closure, following the Thanksgiving holiday.

Renovations to the Georgia Welcome Center in Ringgold will include new signage, repairing both car and truck parking lots, re-striping parking lots, landscaping, repair roof and gutter leaks, replacing HVAC system, installing new plumbing fixtures with automatic flush valves and motion sensors, updating fire alarm system, replacing wall switches with occupancy sensors, replacing all light fixtures with LED light fixtures, repairing/replacing drywall as necessary, and painting the entire building.

The 10,200 square foot Welcome Center on I-75 just south of the Tennessee State line opened in 1997. These major renovations are expected to be completed within 110 days at a construction cost of $825,000. The Welcome Center is scheduled to be reopened by March 21 or once remodeling and retrofitting work is complete. Motorists will not be able to access the Welcome Center driveway, parking areas or building during the November 30, 2015 to March 21, 2016 construction time.

Funds for the renovation and beautification of the Georgia welcome centers and rest areas come from revenues collected from the Georgia LOGO program. The Georgia LOGO program offers businesses advertising along highway interchanges through placement of names and logos on signs approaching exits. It generates approximately $3.3 million annually.
