I-95 Night Construction This Week in Philadelphia

Pennsylvania I-95 Construction - Philadelphia | I-95 Exit Guide

I-95 motorists will face travel restrictions at night next week at the Cottman Avenue (Route 73) and Girard Avenue interchanges for road and bridge construction, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced.

The operations, which are weather dependent, are associated with construction taking place to rebuild the Cottman Avenue (Route 73) and Girard Avenue interchanges, and reconstruct and widen more than three miles of I-95 adjoining the interchanges.

Now through Saturday, November 7, I-95 north will be reduced from three lanes to two between the Bridge Street and Cottman Avenue (Route 73) interchanges from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for the placement of bridge beams.

During this operation, the Princeton Avenue on-ramp to I-95 north will be closed each night from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Motorists normally using the ramp will be detoured north on State Road, left on Linden Avenue, then right at the ramp to I-95 north at the Academy Road Interchange.

Now through Saturday, November 7, the I-95 north off-ramp to Cottman Avenue (Route 73) will be closed from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for pipe work. Motorists will be detoured north on I-95 to the exit at the Academy Road Interchange, then right on Linden Avenue, and right on State Road to Cottman Avenue (Route 73).

On Monday, November 2, through Friday, November 6, I-95 north will be reduced from three lanes to two and I-95 south will be reduced from four lanes to three between the Girard Avenue and Allegheny Avenue interchanges from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for concrete barrier adjustments.

In an operation unrelated to construction taking place at the Girard Avenue and Cottman Avenue (Route 73) interchanges, intermittent traffic slowdowns and stoppages are scheduled on I-95 where it passes underneath the Benjamin Franklin Bridge on Sunday, November 1, through Friday, November 6, from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM for overhead bridge work by the Delaware River Port Authority.

I-95 motorists should expect to encounter slowdowns entering the work zones during the nighttime operations.
